"I first became aware of Ian’s photography through Flickr, in particular his pictures at Twickenham, they immediately struck me as powerful, and I wanted to see more, he used rich saturated colours, which I naturally respond to.There are certain attributes that characterise Ian’s photography, firstly I’d cite his strong compositions and his good spacial awareness. Light plays a big part in every serious photographer’s work, but often Ian makes a feature of its subtleties and nuances in a very engaging way, be it a candle flame, a nocturne or a silhouette. The human presence is yet another strong quality I find in his architectural work, even if the space appears vacant, it’s as if ghosts linger close by. His photo series of Speakers Corner in London captures many eccentricities that otherwise could be missed. I’m certain many people will learn much from Ian’s thoughtful approach to the medium."
