I'm a lifelong crafter, in love with sewing and embroidery. When I discovered Japanese temari embroidery in 2000, I knew I’d found THE needlecraft for me. Living in Yokohama, Japan, for 4 years in the late 1980s had a profound and lasting effect on me, and these embroidered balls with their symmetry and deep Asian symbolism touch my heart. I create each temari with careful attention to meaning of color and design as well as pleasing appearance.

In 2007, I was very lucky to find Breckling Press to publish my book for beginning temari stitchers. It's called Japanese Temari, A Colorful Spin on an Ancient Craft. My second book, co-authored with Kathy Hewitt, is called Japanese Kimekomi, Fast, Fun, and Fabulous Fabric Handballs. It's been a joy to continue my own study of the ancient art of temari and to spread knowledge to Western stitchers.

You can learn more about me on my website - look for "about" on the left hand side of my home page (japanesetemari.com).

When I'm not writing patterns for publication, I'm stitching or dreaming about stitching. Oh, OK, yes, I have another life, too. Mom, wife, homemaker, walker, yoga lover and stuff like that.
