I'm a 20+ year veteran of the IT industry who takes pictures for (my) pleasure and as a substitute for my abysmal memory. :)
I tend not to spend a lot of time post-processing my shots - If a picture doesn't appeal to me as the camera took it I'll likely discard the photo, so apart from a few obvious exceptions what you see here is pretty much what I took.
I take pictures to please me, and to capture the beauty around me (something my mother taught me to appreciate - may she rest in peace) - I'm not a professional photographer (although I'm looking to use my hobby as a means to fund itself), I'm not "arty" (although I am starting to experiment), and if others like my efforts too then I'm happy to have given people a little pleasure from my hobby.
Find me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ImagesByJohnK.
Many of my works have been featured by the East Bay Regional Park District. Go find out more about them at www.ebparks.org.
I've also had some of my photos featured in the Schmap San Francisco Guide; see
www.schmap.com/sanfrancisco/activities_marine/#p=124338&a...

...and I have some of my work featured on RecPlanet.com; see
www.recplanet.com/index.php?type=park&key=621&nam...
I've also had the pleasure of being interviewed for the on-line photography magazine PhotographyBB, and have a 9 page feauture in their August 2009 edition. Check them out on-line at www.photographybb.com or at their Flickr group, www.flickr.com/groups/photographybb_gallery/.
Two of my photos has been featured on the Nikon Award web site.... See here and here.
My use of and experiences with my Nikon D5000 (which I love) have landed me a couple of spots on "Photography Bay"...
Please leave a comment if you see anything you like.

"In the short time I have been on Flickr, I have watched John "K" blossom and thrive as a GREAT photographer, posting works that any of us would envy, that all appreciate! I have come to look forward EVERY day to his sharing here. John's patience and professionalism with a shot are phenomenal, and his flare for fun is exceptional! Not only is John a wonderful photographer with an eye for an interesting shot, color, shape and texture, he is a person who offers help, advice, kind words of encouragement, a shoulder to cry on; he has become my friend. What better can I say than that?!! Keep on clicking, John! As wonderful as your work is now, I know the best is yet to come! You inspire us all, and that is a great gift!

"John the person and John the photographer are both equally phenomenal!! His fantastic work speaks volume about his talent and passion for photography. He has an impressive variety in his photographic repertoire which has everything under the sun, including the moon, the hummingbirds, the golden gate bridge and all things beautiful from his life!!!
Whats more wonderful is that inspite of being featured in various magazines and photography sites, he still keeps it all real. He is truly an inspiration with every click and every comment :)
John, you capture your world beautifully on the canvas of pictures and produce masterpieces! There is no one quite like you on flickr and I am really honored to have your friendship John!"27th September, 2009

"John is an awesome photographer with a great eye for the capture. Ever since I "befriended" him, he has helped me tremendously and doesn't mind giving away his brilliant tips. My moon went from a white blurry ball in the sky to a well defined moon as if you're looking through a telescope and for that my friend I thank you. I'm a beginner and it's so nice to have friends on flickr who help you the way John does. Thanks again John and thanks for your helpful and kind comments!"

"It is a pleasure having John as a contact. He is always quick with praise, free with advice, and offers opinions and suggestions in constructive ways that are the essence of what Flickr should be about.
I love seeing his new work in my contact list, and I find myself surfing his Photostream randomly. Just when I think I've seen it all (I haven't - yet), I find another treasure.
Thanks, John - for your lovely images, sharing your vision, and your feedback. It is all truly appreciated. :)"8th July, 2009

"First of all, I have to say thanks John! You have become a great Flickr Friend. I say this because you offer praise, help, and some constructive criticism. You have helped me in my venture into photography in more ways than you know. And for that, I am very appreciative. Now, about your photos. Your photos have been a true inspiration for me. I always look forward to your next upload. I really see the enjoyment in your photos and that makes a big difference. This makes them very interesting and fun. Your photostream is also very diverse, covering many different subjects. It is always a pleasure seeing your new photos and always a pleasure hearing your opinions on mine. I look forward to what is to come. Thanks again, Friend!!"

"John is one of the few photographers I have met on Flickr that really gets my attention. He has the ability to create beautiful images the "old fashioned way" without a lot of software manipulation. Through the lens photography is near and dear to my heart and John's work always makes me appreciate the talent it takes to be good photographer - not just a clicker who is good with PhotoShop.. Not only is John good with his camera, he's just an all around nice guy and good Flickr friend.. I would highly recommend you get to know John and spend some time with his stream.. I promise you will not regret the time you invest.. Be careful - you might even learn something along the way... Thanks for your friendship John, I wish you the very best.."

"What can be said about John that hasn’t already been said? John was one of the first people after my daughter to invite me to be a contact and I am really glad that I accepted that invite; he can be relied upon for a friendly comment almost as soon as I post something.
He produces work at a prodigious rate and must be permanently connected to his camera! This phenomenal work rate, however, does not mean a lack of quality. On the contrary I find John’s work an absolute inspiration. I have just looked at his recent macro work and now know I must try and “do some” this weekend!
To conclude this testimonial, John is clearly a very keen photographer who will always offer a kind word and inspiration to his friends and acquaintances on Flickr."6th March, 2009

"I've only known John on Flickr for a little while but I've watched his work improve with each shot. In fact I've come to be rather envious of his work and because of that he has inspired me to improve myself. He is someone I can always count on for an honest view on my photos without being overly critical. So cheers to John, his wonderful photos and to a person you can count on for inspiration.

"This man has an uncanny artistic eye for beautiful pictures. He has amazing talents that i don't think he is even aware of yet.I spend a lot of time lol at John "k". He has a boyish personality that comes out in his photos. I can tell John 'K", loves life. Give him a challenge and he whips, right to it.. His excitement with his hobby is quite obvious. You just have to look at his photos to see that. I can say, he is a good family man, with a quick humorous wit about him. I see this in his remarks that he make critiquing our photos. He's someone i feel very comfortable having as my friend. Did i get to word-eeeee for you? I tried to write down everything you told me to write. Hee! Hee! I like to give John"k" a hard time."
