My name is Norman and I work in the booktrade, both as bookseller and a writer. I've had 9 books published for teenagers and I'm working on several more, including an adult crime novel. Descriptions of them can be found at my website, normanjorgensen.com.au

I've been taking photos since I was about 14 and love nothing more than travelling with my camera slung at the ready. Currently I've a Canon 7D and use mostly my 'holiday lens', a Tamron 18-250 telephoto. A Canon 500 lens is high on the wish list - providing the next book is a bestseller.

With my work I travel around country WA a fair bit and so my photos often reflect this. I do try to get overseas every year where I tend to go shutter demented, firing off the button like a machine gun in a Bruce Willis movie.

Looking at all the sights and sites as potential photo subjects makes you appreciate the beauty that may not be initially so obvious and I find myself constantly amazed at the difference between the photo I think I took and what appears on the screen. Often the most drab scene can become a real gem or, most often than not, stay as drab as they ever will be.

My camera also gets used extensively when I'm researching locations for my novels. My next one, Goldstrike, is to be set in Coolgardie in 1906, so you can soon expect to see pics of the goldfields littering my Flickr space.
