I've folded origami ever since I lived in Japan for a year when I was three, but I didn't really take it seriously until my junior year of high school, when I ran across the Origami Tessellations community on Flickr, and started creating my own work.

In January 2009 I started the Origami Weekly blog with Jared Needle, where we posted new diagrams every week for just over a year. More recently, I've been writing a bimonthly column for OrigamiUSA's new publication, The Fold, and also working on a couple books and doing occasional commission projects.

In my non-origami life, I study music composition and vocal pedagogy at UC Davis.

"orgami madness' work is not only beautiful and creative- but he is willing to spend the time to help aspiring artists like myself with their own artwork- several times, Andrew has given me priceless tips on my own ventures- he is a great artist and teacher as well!"

    Ryan MacDonell says:

"When it comes to using math in origami, Andrew takes the cake. His explorations into organicism, abstraction and recursive algorithms are the best example of the beauty of math in the real world. He discovered and continues to discover many things that no one else had thought of before. Andrew's models show that modern origami isn't just about making dragons and insects, its about seeing what that single piece of paper can do with just folding."
