I'm Sammi Sparke and I'm now in my second year of a 3 year degree course in photography at Blackpool and the Fylde College.
I guess I owe my love of photography to two people and one is my Granddad. His love of everything photography was vast; from collecting fascinating old camera equipment including cameras and lenses to taking photos of his grandkids and wildlife. He was legendry for spending hours waiting for the perfect picture of a butterfly sitting on a buddleia stem.
My Dad is however, my real inspiration. I used to be fascinated by the photos he took of me and my brother when we were kids. I could tell they were different in some way from the photos other dads took and it wasn't until I was older that I realised the reason for the difference was the fact he was a bloody great photographer!
So I’ve found myself here after a few different turns in my career path and here I begin, at the grand age of 30, on a road that I know will be filled with photography. I just hope that in taking photography from a hobby to a career that I don’t ever lose my love for it.
