Well my friends, what was always a strong possibility, given the nature and severity of my prostate cancer, has come to pass. I have stage 4 cancer. There is a cancerous spot on my tailbone. The condition is currently incurable. My participation in FLICKR bay be somewhat reduced, going forward. Thanks to all for your support and what you have taught me, and of course for your prayers and good wishes, so freely given through the course of my disease. I have much medical support as well, with new techniques that are prolonging the quality and length of life for those with my condition. I intend to be active as long as I can and happy with my dear Margaret and my family and many friends. With the amazing and beautiful world I live in and try to share in my photos as well as I can.

Update November 22, 2011
I am currently undergoing chemotherapy in a clinical trial for a new drug "Curstursin". In conjunction with the Docataxel/Prednisone combination normally given for people with my condition, it is supposed to enhance and prolong the effect of the oher two drugs. I am also getting a blood builder shot the day after the beginning of each 3 week cycle. For the first week I feel really lousy, the second better and near normal on the third. All of this has has a considerable, positive effect on my PSA which is the best indicator for the progression of my disease. I am getting a bone scan on December 7, and a CT scan on December 6 that should reveal more about my prognosis. Thanks as always for your prayers and support.

"I am proud to say that Brian has been a Flickr contact of mine for nearly 2 years now. I never fail to enjoy his work and his ability to see a picture, compose it, and turn it into an image we can all share, it’s a talent we aspire to but rarely reach at Brian’s level.
The pictures you see here are inspirational whether you are a photographer or just enjoy seeing photographic art.
On a personal level, while I have never met Brian face to face, he has been supportive and I am very happy to class him as a good friend. Long may this go on.
    Thank you Brian,
    Trev"

"If someone could "feel" a few of someone's qualities through his approach to the world through photography, they could not but recognize Brian's unique ability to isolate, capture and transmit the surrounding beauty.
A power within all of us, but used by few.

Thank you Brian for sharing your photographic work.
You have been (and still are) an inspiration.

    Greetings from Greece! :)"

    MarkNKL says:

"Brian's got the eye and talent of a proper nature/birding photographer. It takes a great deal of patience, tenacity and skill to capture birds in their natural environment, you've got to research, track, spot the bird from some distance and bring the camera to bear fast. And all this is shown in his wildlife photographer, each image colourful, well composed and perfectly sharp where it needs to be, even from long range.

Furthermore he's always willing to lend moral support and kind words of encouragement to the works I produce and to the groups that I manage, Brian is a great Flickr buddy to have."

"Brian has an obvious love of nature that is ubiquitously portrayed in his photos. His macro work is among the best I've seen, with acute awareness of light and detail. It's people like him that make me a better photographer. I just have to do what he does."
