Gaz Photo's' photostream  

Hi folks, I'm Garry Liddell. "Garry" is my nick name for my Scottish birth name,"Garrick", hence, "Garrick Photography" and a lot of my close friends call me "Gaz".

I have been married to the same loving woman for thirty plus years and It's wonderful that we enjoy a lot of the same things, from; Photography, Fishing, Muscle Cars, Sports Cars, Cooking, The Out Doors, Motorcycling, Good Wine & Friends and not necessarily in any particular order !

When I was in high school, I really enjoyed photography. I had an old Canon FTB, 35 mm film camera. It was built like a tank and fully manual. I built a dark room in the basement of our house and had a blast doing B&W work. From the old FTB, I graduated to an Olympus OM1 and a host of nice Zuiko glass. The OM1 was a real pleasure to use compared to the tank. One day while fishing summer steelhead on the upper Clackamas, my vehicle was broken into and my Olympus gear was stolen. This totally devastated me because I couldn't understand how anyone could stoop so low. For the next twenty years or so, I only took snap shots with point and shoot cameras, not really ever thinking about composition or subject, but to just perhaps capture memories. Then, for some reason, in 2008, my interest in photography sparked again and I researched DSLR's and purchased my current Nikon D300. This is an incredible camera and is certainly testing my abilities and knowledge, but I am tickled that I am back to the hobby I once was passionate about.

My Feelings About flickr;

If I choose you as a contact, it's because I admire and enjoy viewing your work. I try to view all my contacts work on a regular basis and post comments according to what I like. If I view your work through a flickr group, I will not just leave a group "stamp" as in comment code without adding my own words as well because these group stamps alone, without thoughtful comments are really un-meaningful & do nothing to help us learn and grow in our photography. I also don't understand why some mark others as a contact and then never leave any comments. Please don't make me a contact if you don't plan to view my work and stay in contact. I will most likely remove contacts If they are totally inactive, as I just don't understand this. Also, those that "Fave" multiple images that don't have a photostream or profile of their own will be blocked!

Sorry about the negitive, but I have come to realize that it must be said.

For those that leave me genuine and constructive comments, I really appreciate it, as I welcome any and all feedback on my work in hopes that I can elevate my photography skills to some of the incredible work I see on this site.

I'm honored when someone adds me as their contact, but please don't be upset if I don't reciprocate. I can only keep up with a certain number of contacts and I feel it wouldn't be fair to you if I have you as a contact and then don't find the time to appreciate your work.

I also hope to meet some of you local photography enthusiasts sometime :)
