Hello Flickr travelers and thank you for your comments. I am often away from my computer so may not be able to respond in a timely manner. Please feel free to contact me with your questions through Flickr or my regular email. I will do my best to answer them and help in any way that I can.

I joined Flickr in October 2008 but have been involved with visuals since an early age. I began as a largely self-taught artist drawing much inspiration from the great masters such as Rubens, Da Vinci, Rembrandt, etc. I came to love the interplay between light and shadow, and how it created form and mood. I also became a professional musician. While on the road, I gravitated toward photography. It fed my desire to capture and express life in a visual sense at a time when I was not able to paint.

Almost all of the images I post here were taken in the USA State called Maine - more specifically, in or around Acadia National Park, the resort town of Bar Harbor, and surrounding villages. There are also recent ones from central Maine. Many of my images with area information can be seen at my website AcadiaMagic.com.

My style, when HDR is used, has been one of a more minimal approach with the intent of increasing the tonal and exposure range that I have available to work with. I believe that an artist should be able to use whatever tools are available in order to create and communicate effectively.

I appreciate many of the exceptional images I've seen on Flickr including those using textured layers. I hope to be doing more of this and feel that all should be viewed as tools in the expressive arsenal of the visual artist. In my humble opinion, this is an exciting time for photography and the visual arts if only more people appreciated and supported it.

My first photography book, called "Best of Bar Harbor," was published May, 2009 just in time for the summer season. I have hopes of locating a publisher for another book covering Acadia National Park. Print publishers are having a challenge due to the economic downturn and the impact of the Internet on their sales. Currently, I am in the process of creating another website covering Bar Harbor, Maine and Acadia National Park called BarHarborMagic.com. I am looking forward to creating new photos creations this year.
