I never know what to write in these things, so until I figure that out, here's this...

I've always had an interest in photography, but hadn't really taken it seriously until joining Flickr (Oct. 2008). The images I saw here really inspired me to turn the dial from Sports Mode to Priority modes and begin the journey into becoming a much better photographer.

Quite often, I see that people here only post the very best of the best, and that's great. Others will post their great ones and their fun, family, "basics" shots, and that's great, too. I guess to me, photography is not just about the family shots and not just about the "money" shots. It's more about seeing the world around us as someone else sees it and sharing with them how we see it. We're not just getting to see a beautiful image, we're getting the privilege of looking at it through the eyes of others. And not just a gorgeous mountain shot, but the funny look on Uncle Harry's face at his birthday party. Not just great architecture, but the snowman the kids made in the backyard.

Almost everyone I've met on Flickr has been so encouraging and I really appreciate all of the comments and the amazement you give me through your beautiful work. Thank you for that.

I think this is the best thing I've produced so far...

... and as inexplicable as it is, this is the most viewed to date, by a wide margin...

Norway - McDonald's for Just Under $32 - Such a Deal

I'm still scratching my head at that one.

Now that I think about it, the two shots above are basically the contrast of what I wrote of earlier... beautiful scenic shots and shots that are just interesting in a documentary sense.
