PLEASE READ THIS: Like a lot of Flickr users, I am becoming increasingly concerned about the number of people listed me as a contact, over whom I have no control.

Basically this means, if you have no photos in your photostream (or only x-rated stuff which is just as bad), do not add me as a contact without first appoaching me by Flickrmail or I will block you. Simples!

Please also note that I do NOT welcome lewd or suggestive comments on my pictures. If you leave any comment which is inappropriate I WILL block you.

Please remember that Flickr is about photo-sharing not photo-collecting. You should always have more publicly-available photos in your photostream, than you have favourites from other people. Taking photographs does not need to be expensive. These days most cellphones have a built-in camera, and if you haven't gone a cellphone then buy a cheap disposable camera. Either way, you should have SOMETHING in your photostream. Photo-sharing - it isn't rocket-science, is it!

If you are looking for technical excellence, perfect thirds composition and spot-on colour balance - then you have probably come to the wrong place. Photography to me is about capturing the ephemera of our daily lives. It's as much about gravestones and letterboxes as it is about sunsets and waterfalls. Everything changes. Capture it while you can.

I'm sixtysomething, retired and living in South Wales.

The cameras I use

For serious photography (whatever that is) I use a Sony DSLR-A350 with 18-70, 70-210 and 100-300 zoom lenses and a Sony dedicated flashgun.

When I am not toting all the Sony gear around with me, most of the time I carry a Fuji FinePix 2800. Small and light, with an excellent lens and a 6x optical zoom, it's a good "everyday" camera.

If all else fails, I have a iPhone with 2.0 megapixel camera in my pocket. Not much good in poor light, but amazing if the light is sufficient.
