Well, as of this writing, it's been just a little over three years since I uploaded my first picture to Flickr on October 19, 2008. It all started out innocently enough, signing up for Flickr just to have a place to archive my pictures. But Flickr has turned out to be so much more - a place to meet new friends, discover new worlds, share new ideas, learn, be inspired and take on new challenges.

Personally, the last two years have been a time of growth and change for me. My husband and I, both in our early sixties, retired, sold our little homestead on 5 acres in the country, moved to a condo (I hated it!), then moved to our new place - a modest manufactured home whose main claim to fame is that I again have some space to garden, which is something I can't seem to live without.

Photography has become increasingly important to me as a creative outlet. Up until the end of 2008 I'd been using an Olympus C-7000 Zoom, a nice little "point and shoot" camera that I am still pretty fond of and which will always have a place in my pocket. After much deliberation, in January of 2009 I purchased a DSLR - a Canon EOS Rebel XSi and I am still in the process of learning how to use it.

Although I photograph a variety of subjects, my primary goal is to share with others the amazing, awe-inspiring, soul enriching, beautiful natural world that we all inhabit. The little bit that I inhabit is in the northwest corner of Washington State in the United States on the North American Continent on the planet Earth - and what a beautiful place it is.

I value my relationships with my contacts, but as the list has grown I find it increasingly difficult to keep up with everyone. Although I'm always flattered when someone adds me as a contact, please understand that if I add you back I will expect a certain degree of interaction from you. If I put the time and effort into visiting your stream and commenting on your pictures I would like to receive the same courtesy from you in return. So please don't add me as a contact if you're only trying to amass a huge contacts list in the hopes of getting lots of comments and making Explore.

If you have one of those anonymous Flickr face buddy icons, no photos available to me, no contacts and/or belong to no groups I will most likely block you. Flickr is all about sharing.

I welcome constructive criticism on my pictures.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

    RootsWorld.com (aka Cliff) says:

"Evergreengirl is truly a "prize contact" for so many reasons. He photos are always warm and personal.. they always reveal a little something about her.

But more important is her generosity of spirit. Her comments are never trivial or tossed off. She offers thoughtful criticism and praise, in a way that makes you look at your own work a little deeper, sometimes. If she clicks that "fave" button, you know she has given it some thought and really means it.

And in her role in my favorite group, Never Professional, she offers all of this to everyone who contributes to the discussions."

Tim_Barker sorry for non activity v.busy says:

"I'm staggered to see that Evergreengirl doesn't have a testimonial. If I am the first to write a testimonial to Evergreengirl then it is a privilege. Evergreengirl introduced herself to me around 2 months ago now and I consider it an honour to be one of her contacts. She has a deep knowledge of art and she is always willing to share this knowledge with others. Her feedback is always comprehensive and constructive; when she favourites one of your images you know it's a winner. I always read the feedback she gives and try and apply the advice given. Evergreengirl's own work is inspirational and I always look to her latest submissions for ideas for my own development. As I have said it is an honour to be an acquaintance and I hope our on-line friendship continues. Tim"
