I just went "pro" after five years on Flickr. Now I have more freedom as to what I post. I was tired of having to eliminate one from the past every time I wanted to upload. I last shot film (Velvia 50) about three years ago, after twenty years.

Last year I retired my first digital camera, the g9, after about ten thousand exposures. My newish g11 is far better. That's not entirely true, as my first "digital camera" is the Coolscan slide scanner, which I began using five years ago shortly before I joined Flickr.

I've recently discovered a new technique to "rescue" the deep shadows of images exposed on Velvia 50 by the "wishful thinking" method, that is exposing for the highlights and letting the shadow areas be what they will. So.......twenty years of slide material awaiting proper post-processing.

My Flickr handle is "walking along" which is also my method. I generally don't go places to photograph. "Magic hour" photography is not my thing, though when I'm there, why not. Middle of the day is my time, since that's when I'm out on an explore. If a "spark" is "seen" then I'll work on a photograph. I'm bored easily so when the spark is gone, so am I.

Most of my post-processing is done to correct the limitation of of film or sensor. To be done correctly, from start to finish, takes an hour or two. I don't attempt to create art but rather reveal the art in what I see. I also want a landscape image to reveal some comprehension of natural history.
