Profile>>A short vivid biography....When you read one you "kinda like get to know" that person. I am going to let you know who I am. And maybe you will feel like you have become to "know me a bit."
Born, 1945 in Washington Pa. (Mom and Dad were happy), one brother, no sisters, I was the 2nd son. Mom and Dad were very hard workers with Dad having 2 jobs and Mom having 1. Dad was too young for WW1 and too old for WW2. Both Mom and Dad worked for George Basle, who was in the theater and drive-in theater business. This was the 2nd job for Dad and the only job for Mom,(not counting being a Mom and home-maker & wife to my Dad) was a night-time job. Therefore, as a young one my baby-sitter was the front seat of the car and a blanket and pillow from home. Jim (my brother) got the back. On cold nights, we both got in the back, shared warmth. Growing up, Dad taught me the skills, the knowledge of how to fix this, do that, work on cars, build things, stuff you needed to know. Dad also stressed 8 hours work for 8 hours fair pay, and the fact that if you didn't like the work, find a new job because you would not be giving your employer 8 hours fair work. No sports in high school, but Dad got me into Frazer-Simplex Rifle Club. I did well there and made Mom and Dad happy with my skill. (It took Mom a while to come around to Dads and my side, but after she found the "Hidden Gun" and we talked it out, she reluctantly agreed). Had matches all over SW Pa. and I still have some of those awards after all the years.
Jim finished high school in 1961 and joined the Marines. I finished high school on June 1st 1964 and was at Parris Island MCRD on June 2nd,> USMC, 1964 to June 1968< (yes I did).
After the Corp I went to school to become a Nurse, courtesy of the GI Bill. During school I got married, became a graduate Nurse, and passed my boards to be a Registered Nurse in Pa. Continuing to use the GI Bill, more schooling followed untill I became a private pay, than I slowed down a bit but continued with less of a course load.
My daughter was born, and somewhere in there I joined the USAR as a Nurse but ended up also as a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare Officer. Yes, I did Desert Shield/Desert Storm as a Nurse and NBC Officer, much Safer was I. Now, I'm still a RN, retired from military service after more than 20 years in.
I drink beer, I smoke, have a strange sense of humor and most everyone says I am a good teacher/trainer and one hell of a Nurse. Of course I began Nursing at the bottom, but I have been up the management ladder. Now I am a Staff Nurse again and at my age I'm satisfied there. When the burn-out begins, I shall know when to quit.
I read a lot, anything but romance, currently finishing "Operation Dragoon", the history. I am no longer married but have lived with my S.O. since D.Shield/ D.Storm.
She is a hemodialysis Nurse Manager. My daughter turns 30 in Dec. 08, she is in some type of social service work stuff and currently hold a Masters. Working in Washington DC, so I do not get to see her often.
I'm active in the VFW at my Post. I drive a 1994 Ford Ranger. I'm 5' 7", 132#. (Most of my clothes I must buy at Toys-r-Us.) I have a little suit case in the back of my head where my memories and emotions are, I try to keep it closed, but......
Given time I will get better at this photography stuff.
