The Okinawan Taiko Drummers of Wisconsin are a group of mostly high school students who perform the Okinawan version of taiko drumming called Eisa. We spread our love of the art by performing for a variety of audiences in a variety of locations. Performances usually include Eisa, a bit of slightly-more-traditional taiko, and the Shisa (a mythological Okinawan lion/dog often compared to a Chinese dragon-see photos). Founded in 1996 by the marvelous Heidi Hastings.
