Photography is an expression of my creative need to see the world through metaphor. Photographs of mine that I really like are usually ways of seeing things in a poetic way...with rhythm and metaphor and beauty...it may be that look in my child's eye that speaks of wisdom or strength...it may be a flower that speaks to the depth, texture and surprise of the natural world. I also use photography as a way of expressing my gratitude for the surprising, beautiful, meaningful side of life...or as a way of reflecting on the stark, the tragic, the sorrowful side (and of course some photos speak to both). But at this stage of my life as a mother of 3 many, many photos are simply documentary...and I like those too because as they scroll by on my screen saver in the kitchen we remember as a family the days of our life together.
