I am a serious amateur photographer living 10 miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio in Kentucky and the co-founder, with my wonderful other half Lisa aka Deadbetty, of a growing and very active Cincinnati photography group named Club Blatz. I love shooting waterfalls, landscapes, architecture and abandonment, but I find myself shooting and enjoying nearly all other aspects of photography. Recently I have come to fall in love with HDR photography, and not the blown out dreamscape style, but realistic looking HDR as it has come in handy in difficult light situations. Thanks to HDR I have been able to finally begin posting the different arches in Red River Gorge and Big South Fork without them looking like blown out snapshots. I have also grown very fond of stitching photographs together to create one massive wide angle shot. Interestingly I don't live near a concentration of waterfalls, so in order to get any shots of them usually involves traveling 2 hrs in most cases and other cases 3 or 4 day tours through the southern Appalachians hitting as many as 20 falls over those days. Club Blatz was founded through the 2009 Capture Cincinnati project and we created a Flickr site. Once the project ended we moved our group to Facebook and began having monthly photography shows featuring 6 different Blatz members at Arnold's in Downtown Cincinnati, which also happens to be Cincinnati's oldest operating bar. We have become a local event and a regional/nationwide contest information resource for local as well as some not so local photographers and we set up our own events for members to enjoy as well. I encourage anyone to join Club Blatz but remember it's more about Cincinnati, Ohio and the surrounding area than anywhere else.
