Kallipolis is a non profit non-governmental organization.
It aims at using the tools of urban planning to improve the liveability of cities both in Europe and in the developing countries.
Our activity is primarily focused on disadvantaged and vulnerable groups within the urban communities and will be organized according to the principles of sustainable development.

Today more than half the world's population lives and works in cities, not only in the developed countries but more and more often in the developing countries as well. The quick process of urbanization reveals the double nature of cities: on the one hand, they are the nodes of a network where resources, innovation, development and opportunities are concentrated. On the other hand, cities are highly vulnerable places whose functionality is constantly jeopardized by those same processes that represent their reason of being. Consequently, urban issues have to be addressed with a specific approach, by developing the opportunities and dealing with the problems that cities bring about.
The United Nations acknowledged the importance of these issues at least since 1976, when the first International Conference on Human Settlements was held in Vancouver, Canada. Today, the UN policy regarding the development of the world's cities is reaffirmed through the Habitat Agendaand the Global Plan of Action.

Kallipolis acknowledges the main goals and priorities affirmed in the Habitat Agenda and looks forward to contribute with its activity to the implementation of the Agenda.
According to the Habitat Agenda "City layout and aesthetics, landuse patterns, population and building densities, transportation and ease of access for all to basic goods, services and public amenities have a crucial bearing on the liveability of settlements" and since "This is particularly important to vulnerable and disadvantaged persons", Kallipolis is committed to making good urban planning an instrument of its no-profit activity
