I am a freelance photographer based in Columbus, Ohio (USA) and I am available for assignments within 26,000 miles (41,843 km) of my current location--I know that half that distance would get me to the other side of the globe, but sometimes you have to take the long way. Exceptions to the distance limitation will be made for lunar and interplanetary expeditions!

How I Roll....
An appropriate title since I prefer film!

My favorite camera to use is my 4x5. My favorite films are Scala, FP4 (but I normally use 100TMAX since it comes in the Readyload holders), and Ektachrome 100VS. I develop my B&W negative film with liquid PMK and develop my prints with BW-65 (all chemicals obtained from Photographers' Formulary). I send my Scala to Main Photo and my color slide/transparency film to Duggal.

With 35mm I started out using Canon and it has always worked well for me. I use a DSLR for most of my freelance work.

I use an Epson scanner to digitize my film, prints, and slides/transparencies.

Why the watermark?
If Flickr's Terms of Service regarding uploaded photos read "We will ask for written permission before each and every use of your photos. This written permission will apply only to Flickr's specifically requested usage of your photos and will not apply to third parties...." then I would be less inclined to use the watermark.

I need to post my images on the internet to increase exposure but I want to minimize the use of my images without permission (and compensation!).

Like many people, I invest a lot of time, energy, and money into my work. I feel that asking permission for photo usage is the minimum courtesy that should be shown. I don't believe that posting photos (or anything, for that matter) on the internet gives anyone the right to use them without written permission from, and compensation to, the copyright owner.

However, my photos have shown up in many places without my permission for their usage. The United Nations website has even linked to some of my bonobo images on Flickr. While the exposure is great, it was done without permission or compensation. With my watermark (which isn't easily removed by cropping, cloning, etc.) at least I get credit for my work. The watermark makes my images less desirable for usage, which increases the likelihood that I will be contacted for the use of an image(s) without the watermark.
