I photograph to connect. It is an extension of my need for the wild places in this world. It allows an involvement that goes deeper than just trudging through the woods and looking at all the pretty things. I’ve gained respect for this huge rock that we all sleep on and share with each other. I’ve developed a hunger for wanting to take part in all that it has to offer. I’ve found a deeper understanding for the need of balance with not only nature, but one another. Through my photography, I hope to inspire in others a need for personal connection and journeys for deeper understanding.

I hope to never claim myself as a master, since that would imply that I’ve learned all that there is to know. I have a long ways to go on that one, but it doesn’t stop me from aspiring to get as close as possible.

I’ve been at this photography thing for the better part of my life, which can still be seen as relatively short. The palette from which I draw to fill my canvas is primarily that of landscapes and nature, but I can’t deny that I want to photograph it all. I’ve studied photojournalism at Brooks Institute of Photography, which has helped me strike a balance between pure creativity and the need for purpose. I’ve taken on commercial and editorial work. I’ve photographed musicians and other creatives. I’ve dabbled in video, and hope to dabble quite a bit more.

I’m fortunate enough to count William Neill as my mentor. My wife, three kids, and I are also all fortunate enough to call the Sierra Nevada mountains, just south of Yosemite National Park, our home. And we are all fortunate enough to share this big beautiful blue earth with each other. Let us not squander our good fortunes.
