I started quilting when I moved down to Alabama in June of 2008. I'm not sure how I stumbled across it, I'm thinking from somehow stumbling across Jacquie's wonky log cabins on Tallgrassprairiestudios and deciding I wanted to be able to do that myself. I've recently started a couple of quilting bees and just joined my first mini-quilt swap. Yippee!

I love bright colors, am a fan of modern styles, or traditional styles with modern fabric. Not a huge fan of cutesy stuff, although sometimes if it's cheeky I go for it. I also love wonkiness that creates its own form of art. Gee's Bend is an example of quilting I admire--not only because they are visually stunning, but because the women who started the group did so as part of a movement to reclaim their power and efficacy. Whenever I think I want to quilt my job and just craft all day (I just learned to knit!), I remember that I still haven't found a way to marry doing right for the world with crafts, and until I do so, I shall remain an attorney.

I looooove to cook, and started a food blog that I quickly abandoned. I also love to do crossfit. (Google it, but realize before you do that I know it's crazy!)
