STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CAMERA ('LIKE THE DIGICAM TOOK POLAROIDS ONLY')

MY FIRST 198 Flickr posts were made with the camera in my tiny Samsung mobile phone SGH-E330N.

ON 19 SEPTEMBER 2006 I became the proud owner of a small handy Panasonic digital camera DMC-FX01.

FROM THEN ON, only the sprinkling of Flickr posts labeled "mobcam photo, not edited" were not taken with my digicam

AS OF 29 APRIL 2009 my digicam was a Panasonic DMC-FX37.

AS OF 14 March 2011 my digicam is a Panasonic DMC-TZ9.


IF EVER I get to apply any manipulation to my raw digicam captures, I shall say so in each case;; for the time being I'm content with the challenge of never touching them. *

That is quite a challenging modus operandi, folks! But it's easy peasy too, you really get work done, you have fun all the time, and you learn, you learn!

* In January 2008, however, Flickr offered patrons some new tools, and subsequently this line will appear in the first comment for any one relevant post in my stream, Post auto-fixed with a Picnik facility provided by Flickr. The auto-fixing is the only tool I use on a regular basis now; a very slight cropping on the sides has been tried out in a few cases too, with a notice appearing in my comments.* As of 2010 i have also enjoyed using the Picnic tool allowing one to straighten lines, and the option to flip pics is one I find both helpful (page layout) and illuminating (how differently we sometimes read pictures when they are flipped). The signs 's' /'S' and 'M' will appear in the comment for the post, when pics have been straightened or flipped.


MY BUDDY ICON shows part of a gouache by Ole Bremer P, The Double Birth of Dionysos (1992). The original drawing looms in the background of one of my shadowy indoor mobcam shots, which is also where I nicked this detail, so don't let my gritty Flickr icon fool you - the original is crisp and elegant *. The double birth of Dionysos - or the real us, bravely trying to escape from within the us that, in the eyes of the world, we are represented by at any given moment of our journey on earth?
