There are two kinds of people in this world, and I'm not one of them.
I spent most of my youth playing music pretty seriously, drums and bass (Treepeople, The Halo Benders, Violent Green, Faintly Macabre', Panic Bird and many others as well as some studio stuff) but am now focusing on visual art, which I have done since I was a child (music hit at 16). I grew up in Boise, Idaho, a wonderful small town. Despite its isolation and conservative base, there are many cool people, talented musicians and artists, with a unique point of view.
I cut my teeth in music there, playing harcore punk in the early to mid eighties, first singing in a band called Dissident Militia, who practiced in a garage with and played shows with Septic Death, brainchild of Pushead (the punk rock/skateboard artist) who lived there at the time. Because of his connections, we played with many of the best punk bands of the time, and had amazing record collections. Possibly the best time to be a teenager in Boise!
This band evolved into the band State of Confusion (bass) who toured the west coast and Northwest, this band evolved into the band Treepeople (drums), that relocated to Seattle in 1989 (just before the music 'explosion')playing pop-punk amidst a sea of retro 70's rock bands (and some badass, unfairly overlooked punk bands), developed an all ages and bar following and did pretty well.
Personal differences got in the way and I quit in '91 and they went on, until eventually there was only one original member, who finally quit and formed his own band (Stuntman) Another member formed Built to Spill, whom I collaborated with in a band called The Halo Benders (bass and drums).
Violent Green (bass) was next, punk/folk/goth/trip hop brainchild of one Jenny Olay. I quit in '98 and mostly worked with songwriters (Chris Kowanko, The Anathema Project) until I got a tech job that moved me to Boston from 2003-2008. Portland, Oregon, next, the next chapter is in page-turn at this writing. Saying goodbye to Irish pubs and hello again to hippie/punk cafes.
That is an altered version of a paste of my My Space bio, because ocassionally, I am lazy.
Photography is a hobby I dig more and more, I think about things to shoot all the time (and once in a while I do).
