Hryck. says:
"One of the things that I've noticed about Julie in the past year is that her personality leaps out at you through her photography. There’s a great energy and a raucous sense of humor lurking in her pictures. What she does with shopping carts and ants are some of my favorite things on Flickr. Ultimately, I'd have to say that Jules is one of the great unique people that I've been lucky enough to get to know. Now, do yourself a favor and check out her pictures."

"Beautiful textures and colors fill Sweet Freak's portfolio. What makes it more special, is that these come from mundane objects most people would look right over."

"Julie might just be my favorite person i have met through flickr. But after working with her to create her "Exposure" I really respect her as a fellow photographer. Her compostions alone speak of themselves. But its her ability to make the usual strange, and i love that! Her attention to light and shadow has me shooting stuff i never saw before! Thank you Julie for supporting Exposure! you always come with a positive attitude and dance your butt off! You make it so fun to me! Thank you!!!!! Great Job on your show!!!"

"Jul is amazing.
she takes amazing photos, as well.
sweet doesn't begin to describe how lovely a person nor how awesome her eye is!
she's taught me to love shadows and crazy patterns.
thank goodness there's a window into her world!!

"Back in college, she carried a Nikon. I carried a Canon. Despite this, we eventually got married.
She can at times be the life of the party, at other times a wallflower. However, it's her photography that always speaks out loud. I'm always amazed at how she can find stunning images involving the most mundane things.
She's definitely a quirky sort, and more than willing to get into awkward positions to get the shot she's looking for. Once, while we were in a local park, a police officer approached me and a friend and asked if we knew the "girl over there", and if she was okay.
"Why?" we asked.
"Well, she's just wandering around, and she keeps looking at the ground and bending over."
I kid you not.
Anyhow, she's the real deal."6th January, 2006

spleeny says:
"What would you get if you mixed equal parts Elmo and Agnes, Carol Burnett and Cameron Diaz, Peewee Herman and Georgia O'Keefe, Clara Bow and Paddington Bear? Well, if you did it in a blender and forgot to put on the lid, you'd get a bloody, furry, bone-splintered mess. And the entrails -- ohhhh, I dread to imagine their ropy disarray...
I imagine none of that when I think of Sweet Freak. I mean, like most people, I'm sure she is in possession of a certain amount, shall we say, of entrails. However, she generally tends to keep them neatly tucked away, behind a firm and slim form.
And knee caps? She's practically covered in 'em. Loads and loads. You'll never want for kneecaps in the presence of Sweet Freak, that's for sure. I've never really stopped to count them all, but I'm pretty sure there's upwards of two. Possibly more.
Yes, quite a package, she. Her only minor flaw, and I hesitate even to mention it, is that large growth on the side of her hip.
Goes by the name of "Elston," I believe. I'd dispatch him in a second, if it weren't for his sturdy and powerful frame. Also, I imagine he'd fight rather dirty. Who knows what he'd whip out of that skirt at the least provocation? I'll simply have to wait until he becomes feebler and more manageable.
Just you wait, Elston! In say, 50 or 60 years -- watch your back!! Cause I'm comin' fer ya!!"24th April, 2005
