NOTE:
If you add me as a contact you must be an active member of Flickr with a minimum of 5 photos in your photo stream - and 3 of those photos must be have additional processing. Sorry but too many people are simply downloading textures and not posting samples of usage or any interest in textures other than simply collecting them.

Sorry but I will also block people who just seem to "collect" my images as favorites without leaving any comments at all on any of the images!

Cat Hair Studios - bit of a strange name for a studio!!

Yes, it is!! The background to the name of my studio goes back about 10 years. At the time I was collecting ceramic tiles from the 1900's, mainly tiles in the Art Nouveau or Arts & Crafts styles.

I love the motifs but the tiles were very expensive, so I decided to make my own tiles!! I developed a method for using plain white ceramic tiles that you can buy in any DYI store. I would cover the surface of the tile with a texture paste, this added a nice texture to the tile but more importantly it allowed me to use any type of paint to "paint" the artwork on to the tile.

During this time I had two gorgeous cats, one was a long-haired black cat.

I would paint 2 or 3 tiles at a time leaving them to dry overnight. In the morning I would inspect the tiles to be sure they were covered completely with the texture paste, were dry and ready for painting.

Every single time....somehow... at least one of the tiles would have a piece of black cat hair permanently embedded in the texture paste - the stuff dried rock hard.

So when I started to sell my tiles (without the cat hair of course!) along with some greeting cards I needed a name for my studio - and the name Cat Hair Studios seemed to be the purrrrfect fit!

My gorgeous cats are no longer with us, but the studio name is kept in their loving memory.
