Update Nov 2011Hello again! I'm back once more ! Been out of circulation for a while through a spot of illness but I'm more or less functional again.....albeit on a rather low level! (was I ever more than that?) My apologies if I dont' respond to messages and comments as promptly as I would like.

Married to the most wonderful, long suffering girl in the world and we have two lovely children (obviously my genes aren't dominant). The photos here on my photostream are a mixture, taken by various members of our family - not just me (except the really brilliant ones, of course....).

I'm still incurably fascinated with old cars, lorries and basically anything with at least one wheel and a rampant tendancy to rust. I've always loved pointing cameras at stuff, even if the results are usually amateurish junk. My faithful old Nikon FM2 has been eclipsed by the digital age and now I use my magical little Pentax Optio 330 - hardly state of the art any more at ten years old, but who cares, its fun. More recently our chidren have acquired a Tesco digital camera apiece for the princely sum of thirty pounds each - and alarmingly competent little cameras they are proving to be, too! Mrs Finestone is the one with the decent camera - can't remember what it is off hand.

Many of the pictures I've put up are scans of slides or prints, sorry about the probably rather poor quality of some/many/all of them. Although I'm sort of jammed in the turnstile at the entrance to the digital age, I remain a grumpy techno-clot at heart. I don't really do any clever stuff with the pictures, having taken them - far too hard (quite simply beyond me, in truth!), so here are a load of snap-shots. I hope the subject matter, at least, will make up for the rather obvious deficiencies in technical competence! Any corrections to my captions, etc, will be received with much gratitude!

My pictures aren't intended to win "awards" (ho, ho - no danger of that!!) but if you do find yourself sufficiently awe-struck (by some dodgy picture I've seen fit to bore you all with) as to make a comment, I will of course be immensely flattered and want to be your friend for ever. However I'd be grateful if everyone would refrain from applying one of those massive pictorial "awards" (or worse, one of the twiddly ones) to my crummy masterpieces - they make my eyes fall out, and I haven't got that many left. If you loathe the pictures I put up, that is entirely understandable and you are most welcome to ignore the whole lot, but please refrain from moaning - this is supposed to be fun (isn't it?).

Wasn't it Cartier Bresson, or somebody (I don't know anything really) who said of photography that the first hundred thousand pictures were the worst? Well, I can tell you he was completely wrong - I've taken far more rubbish pictures than that...........and they're all heading this way!
