I cut my photographic teeth as a yearbook and newspaper photojournalist in high school. I took a black and white photography class under Betsy Walker, and she recruited me and my cousin to shoot for the yearbook. That's the best decision anyone has ever made for me. After high school, I worked at a camera shop for three years, and then started moving toward a career in computers.

Back in the day, I shot Minolta manual focus 35mm equipment. I owned several bodies; an SRT-101, an XG-9 and an X-700. I also loved to shoot with a Seagull 2 1/4 medium format camera. I still ran my own darkroom from home for several years after high school.

Now I shoot with a Nikon D200 and post-process with Photoshop CS3. My current equipment is listed below. Growing up, I mostly shot wildlife, scenics, and just about anything that didn't talk back to me. I'm not much of a people person, so I never got into portraits or anything that involved high levels of human interaction. I've since realized that people like people, and there is nothing more compelling than a capture of the human condition.
