Somewhat reluctantly retired, but still intensely curious about the world, its people and nature/wildlife. I travelled a fair amount in my job, and still love to see other parts of the world, and the people who live there.

I'm not given to deep analysis of either my own shots or those of others, and I feel that technical expertise in photography (including processing) is to be respected, but is rarely a reason for unbridled admiration of an image.

For me, the best images celebrate the works of Nature, as in Ansel Adams' work, or give an insight into the human condition, and that may be may in the work of say Don McCullin, Steve McCurry or the many great images here on Flickr.

I see plenty in the world to lift the heart, but there's also plenty to break it too....

"If I knew how to take a good photograph, I'd do it every time". ~ Robert Doisneau

P.S. I wish that the fad for ugly, garish and oversized comment/invite graphics would pass .... ;-)
