Lunar_Eclipse - View my recent photos on Flickriver

Well it had been some time since I first joined flickr and wrote my profile and it was looking a little old and out of date and so I thought now was my chance to spruce it up a little!

So let's see, I'm still in my gap year, which is quickly drawing to a close. With a place lined up at the University of East Anglia in Norwich to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics things are quickly becoming frantic for me as I struggle to get things all ready to go. Throw into the fact that I've just had facial surgery to properly align my jaws and things are rather complicated right now. Still everything is going well and I'm looking forward to starting a new life at Uni. Also hoping that the relocation will be good for my photography with lots of new landscapes for me to go and find.

Well that leads on nicely to my photography. I've been taking it far more seriously for the past two years or so since I first got a DSLR (a canon 400D) which I have since upgraded to a 40D with lots more lenses and other accoutrements. When I first started I didn't really have an idea of what sort of photography I enjoyed most but as I have practised and learnt how to create the effects that I want I have quickly come to realise that portrait photography is not really my thing, it seems that landscape and photojournalism is what I love most.

As such most of my photostream will be dedicated to these themes. I travel as much as I can, having spent a month island hopping in Greece this summer for a second year in a row and intend to continue this trend for as long as I can.

As for my style of photography I can often be found to use HDR shots to capture my view of a scene and while I try hard to use it only when necessary I increasingly find that my landscapes use this technique more often than not. I do however disagree with intense post editing and as such use filter quite often in my routine of shooting. I use a Cokin filter system and am looking at upgrading to a Lee filter system as soon as I can.

Well that's it from me, you can only talk about yourself for so long before beginning to feel a little narcissistic so I'll stop now.

I hope you all enjoy looking at my shots that I post here and I in turn look forward to meeting you through this great community and learning from you as much as I can in this wonderful pastime that is photography.
