The average household in Thornton, Colorado uses about 400 gallons of water every day. But since Colorado is basically a desert, our water is limited and we need to make sure we’re not wasting any.

It's the City of Thornton's mission to help its citizens save 10 gallons of water a day. You can do this by taking the Pledge to become one of Thornton’s Water-Saving Champions.

Here's a short checklist of things you can do to save water:

1. Turn It Off. By turning off the faucet while brushing teeth or shaving, you can save about three gallons of water a minute.
2. Fill ‘Em Up. Only run dishwashers when they are fully loaded.
3. Cut the Time. Use the shortest wash cycle for everyday loads.
