I am VERY new to all but very basic point and shoot.

If anyone wants to donate to Jonny's DSLR fund just contact me for an address. Hey, I know there are always wealthy people out there wanting to be charitable. lol

Ok, all kidding aside (well, I was only half joking, grin), I really do need to learn how to use my camera.

I LOVE Flickr. It is an amazing community and a very underrated site BUT there are some things that get on my nerves:

1. Ugly, gaudy awards. I HATE the nasty "awards." They make the comment areas on some photos look so trashy. If your one that does this junk, please stop. Oh, and if I ever have a photo that is nice enough to catch your attention realize that the "award" will be removed. I appreciate the comment, just not the eyesore.

2. HDR. Now to be fair I have seen the rare HDR photo that is beautiful but most are so worked over that they look like paintings. If you want to paint a picture, pick up a paintbrush. If you want to take a photo, pick up your camera. LEARN the difference between the two.

3. SOOC lies. SOOC means STRAIGHT OUT OF CAMERA. If you did ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING, to the photo, it's NOT SOOC anymore. And if you hide your EXIF data, don't even bother claiming it's SOOC. No proof, no claim. There is no such thing as "SOOC except..."

4. Those who hide their EXIF data. Why do people do this? If I'm looking at a photo I like, I often want to know at least what camera the person took it with. Many photographers use the EXIF data to learn how a shot was taken so they can improve. There is no reason to hide the EXIF data except to be selfish.

5. Forced comments. You know these groups. You join and it is post 1 comment 3 or some such nonsense. It always makes me not want to post my photos because I know I will get fake comments. I don't want people commenting on my photos just because they need to fill a quota. The groups I admin never have forced comment rules.
