Welkom to my photostream!

Photography has always been something I loved, but this was never more than taking simple holiday shots. This all changed when I started as a reporter for a local newspaper, as a sideline job during my last year of university. As a reporter I did not only have to write articles, but I also had to take pictures. Because I thought I looked a bit silly and not very professional with my bright orange compact camera, I decided to buy my first DSLR. That’s when I fell in love with photography.

Because in the beginning I only used the automatic settings of my camera and I wanted to learn more about photography, I decided to enroll as a student in the basic photography course at the Fotovakschool in Rotterdam. Here I learned a lot and since the first class, my camera has never been on the automatic program again. Because there’s still a lot I have to learn and I really enjoy photography, I decided to continue with the vakopleiding (advanced course). I started this course in march 2009 and it's really great! I'm really looking forward to start working as a professional photographer.

Since I was a little girl I really enjoy taking pictures of animals and flowers, so this will be a big part of my photostream, but I hope to explore other kinds of photography in the future.

After university, I decided to stay in journalism and I still work for the same newspaper. The pictures on my photostream are mainly my “private” shots and not newspaper photos. These can be found on www.hartvanholland-online.nl
