My name is AAron (yes, with two capital As) www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/aaron/ and I'm a 35 year old guy from West Australia www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/westaustralia/ living in London www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/london/ since September 2007.

Working full time and sightseeing, travelling (and taking photos) every opportunity I get. I have always been into photography but living over here has been such an eye opening experience I am trying to capture as much of it on camera as I can.

I live in the Isle of Dogs www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/isleofdogs/ and spend a lot of time around the Millwall Docks www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/millwall/

I like taking photos at night www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/night/. I've been to a few castles www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/castle/. I especially like old wonky buildings that look like they shouldn't be standing anymore www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/wonky/. I also like doors www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/door/ and taking photos from airplanes www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/windowseat/

Whenever my wife takes photos of me they seem to come out slanty www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/slanty/

My other hobby is my remote control brushless electric Losi Super Truck www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/lst/

I use flickr as an offsite backup for all my photos so you'll notice I have a lot of photos on-line. I take most photos just for the memory and some photos looking for a good photo. You'll find the quality of my photos on-line varies heaps, lots of average shots interspersed with some excellent ones (well that's what I think at least).

I use

Nikon D300
Nikon 50mm f1.8 (occasionally)
www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/nikkor50mmf18/
Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 (often)
www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/sigma1020f456/
Nikon 16-85 VR lens (most of the time
Nikon 18-200 VR lens (retired but might get used if I need the reach)
Blackrapid strap with the new hardware
Sony C905 cameraphone (not anymore)
www.flickr.com/photos/professoraa/tags/c905/
I now have a HTC Desire, awesome phone but not the best camera, still gets used when I need it though

The 50mm is really sharp and really smooth depending on how you shoot with it. Wicked for low light - obviously.

The Sigma is awesome, sharp and 10mm is so so wide!

The 18-200 can be really soft but if you do the right thing it will take excellent photos. I take most of my photos travelling so being able to use the 18-200 and not change lenses is great while on the move.

I have now retired the 18-200 and use the Nikon 16-85 as my main lens. This lens' quality far surpasses the 18-200 and you don't have to worry about hitting it's sweet spot, it seems to be sweet no matter what. I do sometimes miss the extra reach of the 18-200 but I also enjoy having the extra 2mm on the wide end so I am more than happy.

Blackrapid strap is awesome. Carry my camera all day with the 18-200 on it no worries. Camera on your hip in hands reach or in the small of your back when squeezing through crowds.
