"Je n'ai jamais ressenti d'aussi fortes émotions devant des photos. Elles sont fascinantes et étranges et donnent l'envie d'aller voir derrière le miroir. Ce sont des diamants dans un océan de médiocrité. Goldsardine n'est pas une photographe mais une artiste."

"Mary has her own refreshing style, far away from the usual Flickr members. Always getting some sort of emotion from each and every one of her pics. Always interesting, and always artistic."

"I have developed a nasty little habit. I go and look at the first post on the persons photo stream. That photo tells me a lot of what to expect. Mary’s first post is "midnight #291". Described as “ i know this is hopelessly scootched over but i like the arm”. I have been hooked since."

"Mary introduced me to FELT LIFE, and started commenting on my photos before I even knew there was Flickr mail, what an award was, or how to post in a thread. Mary's generous spirit transformed my Flickr experience. This tribute is long overdue. And that's saying nothing about Mary's intense, color saturated, and completely original photog-view of the universe. There is so much talent in this stream! Many thanks for helping to bring the Flickr experience alive for so many of us. You are a true mentor and inspiration."

"Goodsardine poses me a problem. I shoot almost exclusively in BW; she shoots mostly in colour (actually, even her BW are colours in disguise). I insist on classic framing; she frames in all possible manners. Last but not least, I distance myself from the people I photograph (even in self-portraits); she captures them within her personal sphere. In short, we could not be more different. Normally, this should generate indifference, if not hostility. In fact, being very narrow-minded, I tend skip over people who don’t shoot the way I do. Yet - and here’s the rub - I can’t skip over her work. There is there a way to compose the scene, a way to play with shades of colour, an unerring sense of how to capture a mood, that keeps reminding me of what I might try to do if only I were a freer spirit than I actually am. So far, I’ve been adamant in denying that photography is a true form of art, at least inasmuch as art is supposed to imply creation. Goodsardine is disrupting my system. Thank you."

"mary is one of the very few people i ran into on flickr that makes me *love* this otherwise highly addictive place.
it's hard to develop a real individuality on flickr; mary has both it and a very poetic—if sometimes harsh—view on the life surrounding her. but i'm not the one to say you can't be both poetic & harsh.
she'd have to explain the 'sardine' part, though."8th June, 2007

"Mary is one of the most talented people I have come across on flickr. She turns photography on its head with her unique style. Her descriptions of moments in time are apt, inspiring and thought provoking. My only critism is there are not enough of her work. More more more please. John."

"since a long time i feel like writing some lines for mary. countless my tries, countless times i thought about what makes her pictures so unique to me, what evokes so strong feelings. and countless the miserable failures to put those emotions spoiling me when looking at one of mary’s photos into words... and every time full of sadness when i failed for another time... until i realized, that it is exactly _that_ what makes her pictures so unique... they touch me in a way i cannot _think_ about, they touch me in some wonderful way i just can _feel_ ... every try to lock up these emotions in the narrow cage of words and letters would do nothing but break their playful, gentle wings... like some beautiful thought that touches your mind, but when you try to catch him with your hands he melts away like he’d been never here... i do not feel like explaining anymore _what_ touches me that much when walking through mary’s pictures. i do not feel like wanting to _know_ ... i’m just grateful for every little moment of warmth, of happiness, of smiling, of being touched... maybe such testimonials are thought to be a place to talk about perfection and techniques, about angles, contrasts, colors and such things... but for me its an element of excellent photography when i _cannot_ explain why a picture touches me – and that’s exactly what mary’s pictures do... hm, so much words for such a simple thing! i just love your passion, keep sharing it with me and all the other ones that feel the same way... thanks a lot, mary! It’s not that easy to point out something like this in a language thats not your own one, just hope that you were able to follow my thoughts ;-)"

""You are just WILDLY talented. Excellent." goodsardine.clean left this comment on one of my photos. Honestly, she is one of the few on flickr that actually inspired me to post. Not many can convey life as well. The Details, the psychological output of each photo... we all look at photos but with these photos you feel. So, goodsardine.clean, back at you =)"

"Dear Mary,
Beautiful and inspiring the set "people color", as an example taken from your complete body of work, is awesome in many ways.
Your vision is bold and unique; your work transcends the familiar symbols of our normal daily perception, and moves them into a new doorway where one can only marvel at the confrontation created by your very personal vision and the creative process you have selected to represent it and share with us.
Thank you Mary, for being an artist and a "flickr" resident. Your work inspired me, and your vision enticed me to question again and over again my own way of seing and perceving a world that by routine I take too often for granted."29th December, 2006
