The Shipyard Raid is an annual 7 or 8 day sailing and rowing race for traditional small boats. The fith Shipyard Raid, of summer 2009, was north from Silva Bay on Gabriola Island, B.C., Canada to Desolation Sound. The course of about 170 km is through the Gulf of Georgia, Malaspina Strait, and into Desolation Sound. Tad Roberts and the Shipyard Raid are taking 2010 off.
