“观音”的名字取其“观世音菩萨”的典故：佛教在盛唐时传入中国，并盛行全国。在众多菩萨中，唯有观世音菩萨由男像转为女像，随着环境的变化，自己首先变化，所以“观音菩萨”至今都是中国大地上最广为人知的一位菩萨。团队的名字通过“观音”来暗指同样是外来文化的涂鸦艺术，如果涂鸦要在中国发展，首先就必须融入中国的文化，中国的社会环境。“观音”这个名字即表明了团队面对环境和改变得心态也指明了团队所追求的艺术方向。
