Die Musicalgruppe der Goetheschule Wetzlar wurde 1979 vom Lehrer Peter Merck gegründet und ist mit ihren 29 Jahren die älteste Amateurmusicalgruppe in Deutschland. Sowohl die Künstlerische Arbeit von Regie und Darstellern als auch die Produktionsleitung, Technik und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit liegen komplett in den Händen der Gruppe. Zu den bisher gezeigten Stücken der Musicalgruppe zählen bekannte Broadway- und Westenderfolge wie "Joseph", "Jekyll & Hyde" und "Der kleine Horrorladen", aber auch in Deutschland noch unbekannte Stücke wie "Bat Boy", "Fame" und "Pippin".
The Goetheschule Wetzlar musical group was found in 1979 by teacher Peter Merck. It has so far been in existence for 30 years and is thus the oldest amateur musical company in Germany. Artistic work such as stage direction and performance as well as production management, stagecraft, and publicity are all handled by current and former students of Goetheschule Wetzlar. Previous productions include familiar Broadway and West End hits such as "Joseph" (German debut of original english version), "Jekyll & Hyde," and "Little Shop of Horrors," in addition to works lesser known in Germany such as "Bat Boy," "Christian" (European debut), and "Pippin."
