My primary goal with FLICKR is to post my images and get input as to what works and what doesn't. I want to learn to be a better photographer. I bring my camera everywhere which is good because I never have to say "I wish I had a camera" and it gives me a lot more opportunities to practice. On the other hand my family hates it. I'm not really sure why, all they have to do is stand there.
I also like being on FLICKR because you get to see all the creativity that's out there. The pretty images you see in magazines and other media are ok but I have seen some of the most amazing, creative photos on FLICKR. What's more they were taken by amateurs like me.
COOLIRIS is an awesome browser plug-in for quickly scanning through photo streams or groups. If you've never used it, give it try.
