On January 5th 2010 I left my life in the UK behind to cycle the length of six of the earth’s continents, a journey which will take me five years to complete. My photos on Flickr are arranged into sets by country. Check the 'best of...' tags to see the better images from each continent. The 'gallery' tag is a collection of my favourite photos.

Every thousand kilometres that I ride I write down the distance on whatever is at hand and take a photo. Check out the 'best milestone' tag for a collection of these photos.

My journey.... I estimate I’ll cover some 80,000 km through around 60 countries… a distance roughly equivalent to twice the circumference of the earth. I’m planning to travel only by bicycle as I traverse each continent with the odd boat ride in between to connect up my route around the planet (I had considered manufacturing some peddle-boat contraption for watery stretches, mercifully long since dismissed). Eventually, smelling quite terrible and well into my 30’s, I’ll return to England. Hopefully those who still remember me will be waiting to hear the increasingly insane ramblings of someone who has become more calf muscle than man.

I’m hoping to raise £50,000 (that’s a quid per mile) for a charity called Merlin - the only specialist UK charity which responds worldwide with vital health care and medical relief for vulnerable people caught up in natural disasters, conflict, disease and health system collapse.
