Some words about me... and these are replacing some other words that were here before:

I'm in my mid-fifties, have a husband and teenage son and, as you can see, I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I've had my share of ups and downs in life (like everyone), have lived in several cities, made a few good friends, had a variety of jobs (some professional and some not), and have always had too many interests. It's a problem. I'm no specialist.

If you look at the start of my photostream, you'll see that when I joined Flickr, I had no understanding of it as a form of social media. It was just a place to share a few sets of photos I wanted certain people to see.

But over the past year (2009), I've found myself more and more in digital conversation with people I don't know. I commented on a few photos and, to my surprise, people commented back.

So, here's the gist. I have been thrilled to have Flickr interactions with some really funny, smart, and talented people, who live in places I've never been. You may be one of those people. I love seeing your photos and reading whatever you have to say about them.

Through looking at your photos, I am beginning to know what it is that I don't know about photography. A lot. And I'm always honored when you look at my photos, whether or not you leave any trace of the visit.

By the way, for better or worse, I am not very organized about commenting and replying to comments. And when I fave pictures, it's because I want to look at them again. Maybe that's obvious, but...

Oh, about "soulsurvivor1968" - I didn't chose this name with very much care when I signed up for Flickr. I was in a hurry to post some photos. The back story is that I lost too many family members too soon. The name refers to that. And 1968 was an intense year, that's all. I may change the name at some point. The icon was chosen with a similar lack of attention. (Changed the icon...)
