I am a qualified professional photographer working in the advertising industry as a writer / art director. I began photographing around the age of seven with a very focussed storm theme. Landscapes (including storms when they appear) and captured moments in time are what I prefer to shoot.

I keep my composition and subject matter simple and rely mainly on natural and ambient light with some exceptions.

All the cross-processed colour print and transparency shots you see here are very true to the original with only minor adjustments being made with photoshop in order to get rid of imperfections like dust on the lens etc. Some of the shots captured digitally, or on black and white film, have been coloured and treated to enhance a mood. I see no artisitc problem with this as images have always been (often more heavily) adjusted for presentation by artists in the darkroom in the past. Photoshop is the new darkroom, but for me its main purpose is to enhance the mood and subject with the aim being to inspire a strong feeling in a viewer - the same kind of feeling I felt when I took the shot.

I wont go on about why I shoot what I shoot, that is; my artistic themes and their meaning to me (would you like to fall asleep?). If you think anything at all about my shots that's great.

Chris.
