INTRODUCTION I apologize to photographers and artists, I know I should not be here, realm of first-rate professionals and camera lovers, as I know nothing about either photography or art. I am simply able to press the button of my cheap digital camera. Actually, I am not interested in immortalizing masterpieces, rather in fixing in my mind the memory of the beautiful landscapes that my job allows me to see.

PREAMBOLO chiedo scusa ai fotografi ed agli artisti, lo so che non dovrei stare qui, regno di eccellenti professionisti e grandi amanti dell’obiettivo... perchè io ho poco interesse per la fotografia o per l' arte, mi limito a schiacciare il bottoncino della mia digitale da quattro soldi, non per il deiderio d' immortalare capolavori, ma solo per fermare nella memoria i bei paesaggi che il mio lavoro mi porta a visitare

PAPA' era un buono...un tumore se l’è portato via subito dopo che mi diplomai al nautico, così non ha fatto neanche in tempo a vedermi in uniforme…era un istruttore di karate e mi avvicinò a questa disciplina quando avevo 4 anni

GRANDFATHER I was named after him, Marino. He had been a chief cook on the cruisers of the Lloyd Triestino, old shipping company of my town. When I was a child, he tried to get me to sleep by telling me amazing sea stories; instead, I was so fascinated that I stayed wide awake even after he had fallen asleep, and I always tried to wake him up so that he would tell me some more.

NONNO ho preso il nome da lui, Marino, era stato per lunghi anni capo cuoco sulle navi del Lloyd Triestino, antica compagnia di navigazione della mia città… quand’ero piccolo cercava di addormentarmi raccontandomi straordinarie storie di mare, ma io ne ero talmente affascinato da rimanere sveglio anche dopo che s’addormentava lui, così lo svegliavo perché me ne raccontasse ancora

SEA It is as important as the air that I breathe and possibly even more. I could never stay away from it.
