The Hiram Van Gordon Gallery and Space for New Media are curated and maintained by the Tennessee State University Department of Art. Traditional and non-traditional mediums are represented, as well as selected exhibitions that include African Art from two permanent collections, the Ruth Witt Collection and the Dr. Richard and Susan Edwards Collection. Each year a student and faculty exhibitions are installed. Additionally, the Gallery serves as a hands-on training ground and incubator for students hoping to pursue careers in art and arts administration.
Space for New Media, dedicated to African American innovations in art, technology and new media, is currently under construction, to open with programming in 2009.
