Hello, my name is Terry Mercer.

I appreciate comments, suggestions, feed-back, and group invites are welcome on my photos. Fav's, when you seen something you really like, is always appreciated!

Please don't copy my photos without my prior approval. If you want to use a shot for your personal screen back ground - cool, no problem. But I do not want to see or hear of my work being used on a web site, blog, or in any other means without my prior approval. Commercial use without my permission is STRICTLY PROHIBITED!

I will tell you that searching my 'sets' - and going through 'Terry Mercer Photography' is probably about the best way to deal with my stream. Over 40k photos, with nearly a million over the years I haven't uploaded - or spent much time on. My 'work' has improved drastically over the last 5 years... so I've focused (literally & figuratively) on the newer stuff... the motion and more unique in most instances. I hope you'll find some that you'll enjoy, will touch your heart, spark a good memory, or challenge you to a particular type of capture. Enjoy...

All NON-PEOPLE shots are 'ForSale' - the shots containing people are mostly for the kids & family (of those kids) and the school to use, and may or may not be available for republication. It never hurts to ask. I'm not unreasonable... but I am more picky and careful with my shots involving other people - particularly kids, than I am my nature, scenery, places, & things shots.

Again, ALL of my shots are copyrighted, and while I'm fine with (and appreciate) comments, fav's, and being invited to groups & added to galleries, PLEASE DO NOT COPY OR MISUSE MY PHOTOS! I will not be happy - and there will be ramifications for unauthorized use or misuse of my photography. Ask - tell me what, where, and how - I might agree depending on the shot. But never will I agree to you having my shots displayed in your photostream - as if you took the shot, so don't bother asking that question!

Fav the shot, or add to a gallery, those are 'ok' things (and show me appreciation for my time, effort & experience.

My nature photos will be broken into sets, and broken up some by sports shots. I'm working on more nature & underwater shots this summer. I've been focused on my kids (hence all the sports photos); and trying to keep our business above water during these economic challenges. I have been back on the west coast since June 2009, and plan to spend the majority of my time on the west coast with my teenagers and family (parents & sisters) for at least another two or three years, until they've graduated.

99.999% of the shots are candid, freehand, no staging or special setup, or tripod the majority of the time. Although I have started using my monopod for the basketball games - as 45 minutes of standing holding up over 5lbs of camera & lens gets tiring (and I'm getting lazier).

I have a few different digital cameras - from point and clicks to dSLR's. Canon and Fuji are my favorite above ground cameras. Olympus & Canon for underwater shots.

Photography has been a "hobby" and interest to me since I was big enough to hold a camera (well over 40 years now). I learned how to develop film & print my own photos (both B&W and Color) when I was in junior high... and bought the first digital by Casio (a womping .5 megapixels) back in 1988. They've came a very long ways since then, and one day hope to have a Mark IV - but that's a ways off still.

Photography is a continuing education - as there are always unique challenges, new subjects that present different difficulties. I spend a lot of "clicks" playing - learning - experimenting and trying to capture those 'impossible shots.'

I often post my less than perfect shots for feedback, suggestions, and to demonstrate my progress on a given type of shot. Butterflies IN FLIGHT, Dragonflies IN FLIGHT, Swallows IN FLIGHT, Raptors catching critters (fish in particular), and Fish jumping out of the Water (Dams, rapids, or fighting a fisherman... all challenging & interesting type of shots. Most anyone can take great pose, and controlled shots... it's the action & uncommon stuff that I usually find most fulfilling.

Thanks for looking through my stream, I seriously suggest going to the sets, verses looking through the stream - as there are massive numbers.
