Roosevelt and Hiller elementary schools (Madison Heights), John Page Junior High (Madison Heights), Lamphere (Madison Heights) and Mesa high schools, University of Arizona (Tucson).

Then lived in Chandler, Ariz.; Alexandria, Va.; and Washington, D.C.

Worked at the Phoenix Gazette and the Washington Times before the Washington Post.
