About Me
I am not huge on labels - so let's just say I am your average photographer. I shot film for years until it became too pricey for me - so I made the switch to DSLR's in 2008. My subjects vary wildly, as you can see in my stream. Portraits, macros, landscapes - whatever happens to be interesting to me that week. I love to help others, as many have helped me on my photography path over the past few years. Feel free to email me with any questions about my shots - or just to say hello.

About my Shooting
If you look early in my stream, I was all about the post work. HDR, tone mapping - basically over processing as it was fun and new. But today, I am very quick with my camera to Flickr process. Here's a really down-n-dirty outline:

- I shoot everything RAW, I use Auto WB, I love to shoot wide open
- I import the RAW into Lightroom for organization only
- I edit in Photoshop CS5. These are the edits I make:
--- High Pass if needed
--- Curves if I cross-process
--- Contrast / brightness adjustments when needed
--- Add signature stamp and upload to Flickr

That's it. I no longer use any photo plugins. I really do very little with any other adjustments as the camera and glass do perfect on their own. However, I do the occasional cross-process and put together a tutorial for you.

    "Ray..

As you can see if you look through his stream, he is more than an artist, he creates awesome compositions. Now he is starting with portrait work and he is going up with his level every day.

But a part from that, I want to say that he is also a great great great person. I live quite far from where he lives; even though, I've just been emailing with him and I can ensure you that he is awesome, like his art :)

    Thank you Ray!"

"What can I say about Ray Larose? Well, Ray is the one who sold me his Nikon 85mm f/1.8 lens which I absolutely love and feel I got a steal. In addition, he is one of the kindest people I have ever met...he loves photography and loves sharing his knowledge.

When viewing his photo stream you get the sense he looks for things that are not normally taken but does it in a such a beautiful way in which it has a story to tell.

Everytime I see a photo from Ray I have to open it immediately and see what it is all about...it is this kind of inspiration which makes me want to keep going with my photography. In addition, he has some of the most beautiful bokeh shots with Carl Zeiss lenses. It only makes me want to have one for myself to try out. Maybe one day he will be kind enough to let me try one out on a photo meetup.

Make sure you add him as a contact as you will not be disappointed. Just beware, he just might convert you to Carl Zeiss lenses as he states he done so to over 30 people as of last count."

    ~green tea ice cream~ says:

"Looking through Ray's stream, the images capture the elegant simplicity of his surroundings and his world, which is calming and picturesque. The viewer gets the feeling of 'clean air', 'healthy rural living' and 'the great outdoors'. His diverse stream is uncluttered and there is a feeling of large open spaces. Ray has a way with composition, colour, awe inspiring light and attention to detail whether he's shooting a still-life, a portrait, a landscape, a macro or even a building.

He has such a passion and dedication to his art that I admire and respect. I have never met Ray in person, but judging from his stream and his blog (an amazing read btw), he has an inquisitive mind and a fascination for the technical side of photography too. He also loves to experiment! (soo envious of his top notch range of lenses and I'm still reeling from his camera being left out in the rain!!)

Ray has a very up-beat and positive aura. He is always willing to share his knowledge and tips. He is so generous too and I'm very appreciative of his comments which are always so supportive. Seriously, he has got to be one of the friendliest and informative people on flickr. I recall quite precisely when I first bumped into him and his stream on flickr. It was a pic. of a sunflower and I remember thinking to myself, "the clarity is exceptional...this is obviously a professional photographer..." I have now discovered he isn't a professional as such but it is hard to believe as the quality of his work is very professional, very high key and very 'grown up'.

I feel honoured to have met you here on flickr Ray and i'm so looking forward to many more of your uploads...keep them coming and keep up the amazing work my friend!

    *hugs*"

I know that this is what drew me to his stream when I first saw his pictures! The quality of his pictures are fantastic, not only because he uses a lineup of very impressive Zeiss lenses but also because he has an eye for the subject and composition. Amongst all my contacts, Raymond has a very unique style that makes him really stand out. Keep it up Ray!"
