And now a bit about me:

Software professional by day, photographer and videographer by night/weekend.

I spend my time between videography and photography.
I am a hobbyist in both realms.
I am in love with both of them at the same time.
I've been doing video since about 1995 or so, but have a small home side business in it since 2007 when I moved to Moncton. I have had a variety of equipment over the years:

1. Analogue Hi-8 Sony Handycam,
2. Canon mini-DV Elura-2MC,
3. 3-CCD Panasonic Mini-DV,
4. Sanyo Xacti E2 (waterproof),
5. Nikon D3100 for HD 1080p video.

I started digital photography in 2000.
I have had several cameras:

1. Olympus C-730-UZ
2. Sony H2
3. Lumix FZ-28 (still using it),
4. Nikon D3100 DSLR.

Lenses:
1. Nikon DX 18-55 mm portrait lens.
2. Nikon DX 55-300 mm zoom lens (new as of Nov 2011!)

More gear:
1. HP Pavilion Elite quad core, 8 GB RAM, two 500 Gb SATA-II internal drives, 1 TB LaCie external drive, 3 TB Western Digital external drive.
2. Canopus ADVC-300 Advanced DV Converter.

Wish list:
1. Big zoom lens for my Nikon D3100!!!!!!!!!! (CHECK!)
2. Nikon macro lens (hopefully in 2012).
3. Kick ass 1080p HD movie camera! Although the D3100 is reallly doing well with this!
4. New PC with 6 i7 cores and 16 Gb DDR3 RAM, etc.

I like taking a variety of shots on numerous subjects -- mostly nature and things. I'm working on people photography, but most of those shots of mine are on my Facebook account.

I like taking photos to match whatever mood I'm in.
Sometimes it's homey Christmas shots, travel pics, or eerie night photos.

I do most of my photography in-camera by changing the settings. I usually use very little post-processing in software, but I have been know to tinker with the occasional shot to make it stand out more.

I have never taken a photography course before, although I recently bought a book on night photography because that seems to be what interests me most these days.

I am self-taught so far, and like to play with the camera settings to see what I can capture.

I find the photos on Flickr very inspiring and have learned much from looking at them. I have met (virtually) some pretty cool people here who are great photographers.
A lot of the photos on here are amazing, and I am humbled by how good some people are when I see their work.

I like many different styles, and don't like to be locked down into one thing.

My biggest inspiration is my wife and partner Suzanne.
She encourages me and often finds interesting subjects to shoot when we're out for walks or on drives.

We met in 2007 and got married in 2009. She is a kind and wonderful person who has changed my life in so many ways. She has two wonderful girls, so I got an insta-family when we got married. We all get along wonderfully.
If you had asked me 10 years ago if I'd ever be married and have kids, I would never have dreamt of where I am now.

Sue has told me I should join a local photography club.
I'm pretty busy most of the time with my IT job, so we'll see.
I find the creativity with videography and photography to be a nice counterbalance for the world of IT.
