I have been an amateur photographer for much of my life, and that interest comes from my father, who was a much better photographer than I ever will be. My first camera was a Kodak brownie, but my first real camera was an Exakta SLR at around age 13. A darkroom quickly followed after that.

Over the years I have had several cameras, but more recently in the past 15 years since digital came on the scene. Since the Exakta, my cameras over the years are as follows:

Canon A-1. The Canon served me well for many years and many thousands of pictures. I still have it, and the excellent FD lenses I used with it.

My first digital camera in 1997 was a Kodak DC-20. I used the camera lightly outdoors, but the Canon was my main stay, as the pictures from the DC-20 were terrible.

Next was a Nikon 900 in 1999. A 1.3mp shooter with a 3x zoom lens and expandable memory. At the time I thought it took great pictures (and it did, relatively speaking), and I began to use this camera more than the 35mm camera due to it's convenience, “instant gratification”, and zero cost to take pictures. I found myself shooting more pictures than I ever had with a new felt freedom.

In 2002 I upgraded to a Nikon 990. This camera took 3.3mp images, and again, I used this camera exclusively.

Next in 2007 was a Canon G9. The G9 was 12mp, 6X zoom (equivalent to 35-202 on a 35mm film camera). It was pocket-able, had auto and manual modes, and took great pictures.

I recently upgraded to a Canon 60D, my first DSLR. I currently use the 18-135mm IS standard zoom lens. I also have a 500mm telephoto T-mount lens that I used with the A-1, which works great on the 60D. This is an amazing camera. I missed using an SLR for 15 years, and it's nice to be back.

My current photographic interests are pretty much the same as they always were. To photograph the things around us, and the things that may not always be around us much longer. Signs, buildings, abandonment, demolitions, night photography, and everyday things, and last but not least, old found photos.

I hope you like what you see.
