By avocation, I am a writer of short fiction and poems. Timid with a camera, I tend to take pictures only when traveling, so I cannot say that photography is a hobby. While I have not been to many places (yet), the ones I have visited have made indelible impressions on my mind, emotions and spirit. I wish it were possible for photographs to capture every millisecond of magic that I experience when traveling.

Although they seem one-dimensional, I believe that photographs capture the reality and hidden layers of people, places and objects within a narrow space of time. Indeed, a picture speaks a thousand words, as the saying goes.

Photographs I like viewing include: structured gardens, cityscapes, seascapes, erotic portraits, culinary art, railroad iconography, architectural images, dance photography, and everyday action shots. The images that tend to last in my mind, however, are those which reflect how elements of nature can evoke different moods and emotions, and others which cause physical sensations. It does not matter whether the photographer's approach is avant-garde, realistic, impressionistic, etc.

Through photography, as through other art forms, human beings make connections by improvising at different angles on common themes.
