Some of my hobbies: photography, the beach and swimming, biking, animals and nature, computer troubleshooting
Lately, I am spending more of my free time capturing great moments created by Mother Nature.
Most of my photos are: "BIRDS, BEES, FLOWERS and TREES" (not too many trees) and some people.

Please feel free to browse through my "sets" and photostream to see some of Mother Nature's extraordinary creations. Comments will be appreciated.

I use a Pentax Optio A20 (point-and-shoot) for most of my closeup shots and a Nikon D5000 for most of my bird and people shots.

37 of my photos have made Flickr EXPLORE ! THANK YOU ALL !

"When I joined Flickr in September 2009 and posted my first shot in the Nature Conservancy pool, I noticed a name that I saw often..."Koolpix". I wondered who this amazingly talented and prolific person was. No matter what Koolpix posted...flowers, birds, insects, etc., I said to myself, he's really good!! And he doesn't just stick to one theme -- his photography shows great variety. Not only does Jay have an artistic eye, he is very generous to me and other photographers on Flicrk. He takes the time to give awards and congratulates others on their work. Jay continues to be an inspiration to me and a mentor. I've learned so much from his excellent work and I'm pleased to call him a friend."

"There is no doubt that there is a lot that can be said about Kool's
photos. He defies the thought that one must have expensive cameras
and lenses in order to take a great picture. Kool takes great photos because he has a great eye....and great passion. Passion...that all important quality. Anyone who views his photos, is in for a treat.
And anyone that has the pleasure of getting to know him, is in for
a whole lot more. He is not only respectful of other photographers,
he is kind and generous and his willingness to help and nurture is way above and beyond what one could hope for. A great photographer, yes. A great person, absolutely!"

"Koolpix has some really cool pics. We have some things in common - we love the beach, nature and travel. John approaches photography with an observant eye, a sense of design and a reverence for nature. Once you realize he only uses a point & shoot camera, his art takes on a new meaning that evokes even greater appreciation of his capabilities. He doesn't need impressive gear because he has impressive talent. His work reveals a gentleman worthy of our respect and admiration. Someday, we will probably meet - on the beach."

"You just need to go through John’s (KoolPix’) photostream to enjoy a taste of nature. This guy knows exactly how to capture the spirit of nature and he can make great pictures with that knowledge.
John, you have a great photostream! Keep up the good work.
The camera is not important. You can use the worst point & shoot camera and if you can transmit emotions like Kool is doing in his captures, you will be a great artist!"

He is very good at bringing a 'feeling tone' into his photos giving them a special touch. You can not only appreciate the photo but often get a special sense of it as well.

John has such a wonderful variety of things he enjoys photographing and that gives his photostream a special spot in Flickr. He is also fun to work with as a 'contact' as he is very constructive in his comments.

It is always fun to visit his photostream and see what beautiful new photo he has added!"

"There is a old very old story about a old beat up fiddle at an estate sale ..strings are missing . the body is beat up and badly in need of repair ....the bid is started at bottom rock bottom ...no one is bidding ...the auctioneer asks if any one can play the fiddle ...up steps a man that is not very neat in appearance he picks up the fiddle .. breaks off a few broken string picks up the bow and plays like the Angels of heaven have the bow ..the bidding begins again and the fiddle is sold for lots of money ....

From pretty girls to kittens ,KoolPix mighty little shoot and point is like that ... for you see its not he camera but it is the soul of the photographer ..if ever I am in need of a lawyer... I hope John and his point and shoot camera are there .... just like the master and the fiddle ....KoolPixs photos are a delight to see"
